Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, & Concert Band
- The Wind Ensemble at RV is composed of some of the most talented wind musicians in the school. Students are admitted into Wind Ensemble Band by audition only.
- The Symphonic Band is composed mainly of less experienced musicians. With this ensemble, the emphasis is on developing the students' musical and technical ability on their instrument and also on playing with the ensemble.
- The Concert Band includes more experienced musicians as well. These Performing groups hold concerts several times over the course of the school year and are under the direction of Mr. David Britton.
Orchestra & String Ensemble
- The String Ensemble program at RV is designed for those students who have previous experience in string instrument instruction. Orchestra is a performance-based course that focuses on the development of technical and musical skills necessary to contribute to performing in a string orchestra. Students in both groups will be exposed to an increasing variety of musical material and concepts and will have the opportunity to perform varying styles of music that will increase their technical skills, musicianship and awareness of string orchestra repertoire.
Theatrical Pit Orchestra
- The Theatrical Pit Orchestra performs for the annual high school musicals which are affiliated with the RV Drama Department. It is made up primarily of wind players from the band and string players from the orchestra. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed, usually once or twice a week starting two months prior and culminating with the production week performances. Auditions may be required. The Theatrical Pit Orchestra is under the direction of Mr. Greg Connlain, director of the Lumberton Twp. Middle School Instrumental Music Programs. They have ably performed such renowned shows as, "Man of LaMancha" and "Les Miserables". The production for the 2007-2008 school year was "The King and I".
