DIRECTOR’S REPORT – JANUARY 2008

·         HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Things are looking “GREAT for ’08!”  (cheesy, I know J )

 

·         Upcoming

o        Post Marching Band Party & Awards – THIS FRIDAY, January 11 @ 7pm in RV Cafeteria

§          Paper Plate Awards from Section Leaders to sections; Drum Major to Leaders

§          I’ll bring SingStar and hook an amp up

§          Any word on a DJ?

§          “Catered” foods provided?

o        8th Grade Parents Night – January 17; 7-9pm

§          Symphony Orchestra will perform

·          6:15pm Report

§          Is there a Booster representative who is available to answer any questions and/or distribute materials?  Let me know.

o        WINTER INSTRUMENTAL CONCERT – January 24 @ 7pm

§         Admission $3.00 (tickets will be sold in advance)

§         Concert Band, Orchestra & Wind Ensemble

o        Western Burlington County Honors Band & Orchestra – Concert is Tuesday, February 5th @ Maple Shade HS

 

·         Instrumental Music

o        Congratulations to Jeff Cope, Chelsea Cortese & Travis Knauss for their acceptance to the All South Jersey Symphonic Band.  Concert is THIS SUNDAY, January 13 @ 3pm at Rowan University

o        Jazz Ensemble (RV Big Band)

§          Reading sessions continue this week

§          Official practice schedule starts in February – Tues & Thurs, 2:45-4:30pm

§          Performance schedule still being worked out

o        There WILL be a Concert Percussion Ensemble next semester.  Rehearsals will be decided at first meeting – To Be Announced

 

·         Florida

o        Next Meeting – NEXT Tuesday, January 15th @ 7pm

§          Please get payments caught ASAP

o        Band Rehearsals – 3/18, 4/1, & 4/8 – 6:00-9:00pm

 

·         Indoor Activities

o        Full rehearsals have begun

§          Guard – Mon & Wed, 6-9pm

§          Percussion – Tues & Thurs, 6:30-9:30pm

·          Some percussion rehearsals will be on Fridays due to school scheduling conflicts during the week. 

o        Thank you to everyone for getting forms & payments submitted in a timely manner. 

o        Activity fee is assessed to cover transportation, equipment truck rental, materials, supplies, instructional & design costs, entrance bonds & fees

§          ADDITIONAL $50 will be added to current $200 fee totaling $250 to cover 2nd bus and extra supplies/materials.  This is the largest we’ve EVER been!

§          Fundraising throughout the season.  Will be run directly through Mr. Britton & scholastic account.  More info to come….

§          Students planning to pay for costs via their accounts handled by IMB must contact Corinne & arrange for transfer/check-cut prior to payment due dates.

o        WEEKEND IN WILDWOOD: May 1-4.  Additional cost: $250

o        Shows begin end of February & continue through April culminating at the Weekend in Wildwood (May 1-4)

o        Will need assistance at shows (equipment, chaperoning, etc…)

 

·         MARCHING BAND

o        Recordings still to come.  Needed more editing than anticipated

·         MEETING: NEXT TUESDAY NIGHT @ 7:

§         Reminder: School will only be funding 5 competitions.  Because of this, there will be an additional fee of about $40-$60 to attend additional shows. 

§         BAND CAMP 8/23/08-8/27/08; Mini-camps 7/15-7/17 & 8/12-8/14
