Jazz Band

This group consists of auditioned students with a passion for jazz music. Musicians build their skills of improvision,and solo abilities. The group studies and plays jazz music throughout the school and community. This award winning group helps to further the studies and skills of music.
This course provides additional instruction to further improve and expand their skills as musicians. The students work individually and in small groups to prepare two in class recitals for each semester. All instruments are included experience and permission from the director is required.
Wind Ensemble
The ensemble is composed of select group of woodwind, brass and percussion players chosen by audition. The group plays a wide variety of high school and college level contemporary and standard music. The group plays at several concerts and events throughout the school and community.
Concert Band
Music Theory
There is a Spring Concert Band and a Fall Concert Band that correspond to the high school semesters. This group is open to all experienced musicianswho play woodwind, brass or percussion instruments. There is no audition required. The group plays standard music at concerts throughout the school and community during the selected half of the year.
There are two levels for this course in which students study the concepts and applications used in music. The students will study the writing of musiic and elements of music such as harmony, melody and rhythm. Students will be composing their own music in the class. Ear-training, sight reading and music dictation will be developed throughout the course.
Orchestra
The orchestra group incorporates violin, viola, cello and brass students with prior string instrument experience. There is no audition necessary for this group. Various different styles, eras and levels of music are played each year both at the school and throughout the community.
Applied Percussion
This course furthers the skills of percussion players with prior experience. This group is open to all experience percussion musicians including front ensemble instruments and drums.The group plays music at school and community events throughout the year.
